Google no longer allows you to install extensions from outside its own
web store. However, if you’re prepared to take responsibility for what
you install, you can get around this restriction and install extensions
from anywhere. First, make sure you have the latest version of the
browser installed, then download the third-party extension you want in
CRX (Chrome extension) format.
Click the Settings button and select More Tools, Extensions, then tick
the ‘Developer mode’ option. Drag and drop the CRX file onto the
Extensions page and confirm installation.
