You will definitely need a network key to install a new WLAN connection
on a second PC. In case of most routers, you will find this key on a
label on the bottom of the device. However there is no need to go up to
the router to see the key as you can have it simply displayed to you in
Windows. But this will work only when your main computer can make a
connection with the router automatically.
In the Taskbar, click on the icon for Internet connection. You will find
this icon generally next to the icon for volume control. You will now
get a result of all reachable WLAN connections where you have to
right-click on your own connection.
Click on “Properties” in the context menu. A new window will open which
will display the settings of your network connection. Here, you will see
the network key which, however, is displayed as dots and hence, is
unreadable. Click on “Show characters” to display the password in clear
text.
