If the hard disk shows faulty sectors, there are two ways to repair them. Press [Windows] + [E] to open Explorer. Then right-click on the hard disk concerned and select “Properties”. Go to the tab “Tools” above and click on the button “Check now” under the category “Error Check”. In the next window, enable all checkboxes that are available. The disk repair will start by
clicking on “Scan Drive” or “Start”.

Click on »Check now« so that Windows can
find and repair the faulty hard disk sectors
The other alternative is to check and repair your hard disk using the
command line interface. First start the command prompt (CMD) as
Administrator. Type the command “chkdsk d: /f /r” and confirm the same
with [Enter]. Windows will then check your complete hard disk for
errors. The result will be displayed after a few minutes. If errors are
found, Windows will automatically repair them.
