Almost all Android phones of the latest generation comes with a
notification LED which informs the user about the missed messages or
calls. You can change the colour of the LED in two ways. Some apps offer
changing the LED colour in the settings. For example, in WhatsApp, if
you go to “Settings” and tap on “Notifications”, you can change the
colour for the notifications from a contact or also for group
notifications under the option “Light”. In the latest version
(2.11.109), you have a choice of seven different colours. The Facebook
app has something similar - go to “Settings” and set a check mark for
the option “Phone LED”.
The only difference to WhatsApp here is that you cannot choose different
colours. Instead, the LED blinks in blue colour for an incoming
Facebook notification. The other alternative is to install one of the
two very good Android apps with which you can adjust the colour and
ON-time of the notification LED. The free Light Flow app gives you full
control over your notification LEDs. You can make all the settings for
the LED in the app. You can also individually set the colours for every
single contact.

WhatsApp supports this tool but only in the Pro version for RM8.15. The
free app Frozen LED allows you to assign an LED colour to each app
including WhatsApp. To adjust the LED colour, open Frozen LED and click
on “+” on the top right. Select the app from a list of apps, to which
you want assign an LED colour. Subsequently set the colour of the LED
and the ON-time under »Pulse speed«.
