If you read my article about run-linux-in-your-android without root. You may facing some problem.
The thing is GNURoot does not have complete linux. You will need to install some dependency packages (rootfs) after installing GNURoot.

Allows you to create and launch an Aboriginal rootfs without rooting your device when used along with GNURoot (champion.gnuroot).
Aboriginal is busybox and toybox based and very lightweight. I have included gcc with it.
